Tripling Strike Strategy

Song 845: This week the playlist features Knock Three Times by Tony Orlando and Dawn, written by Irwin Levine and L. Russell Brown, and you can find a cool YouTube video of it by clicking on the title. On the holiday that arrived yesterday, and in the few days leading up to it, a lot of people probably got knocks on their front doors from acquaintances wearing costumes, so it seems appropriate to feature a melodic suggestion about making such a move. Back around the beginning of 1971, during my second year at Northwestern University, I started hearing instructions from radio speakers about how a female could call for attention from a nearby neighbor. In February I visited a young woman who I corresponded with, and that visit turned into an unexpected romance when she pulled in the string with the note that was attached to my heart. Sadly, that romantic connection ended when I visited her again a couple of months later, so at the time, only in my dreams did that wall between us come apart.
